Welcome to the Sexual Psychophysiology and Psychoneuroendocrinology Laboratory

We are located in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia. Run by Dr. Boris Gorzalka, the lab conducts research in the areas of Behavioural Neuroscience and Clinical Psychology.

Our Behavioural Neuroscience research focuses on animal models of human behaviours and disorders. We investigate the influence of monoamines, endocannabinoids, steroid hormones, and stress on anxiety, depression, and sexual functioning.

Our Clinical Psychology research focuses on various aspects of human sexuality, including sexual dysfunctions, asexuality, and sexual paraphilias. We investigate how these aspects are influenced by factors such as culture, attachment, and the endocrine and nervous systems.

Our work is funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR).
